"She's recorded albums and she's had a great career performing," Sidibe tells Us. "Now it's just different because it will be in front of more people."
But the confident Ridley -- who has performed in NYC subway stations three times a week for the past 18 years -- didn't need any reassurance from her Oscar-nominated daughter before hitting the stage.
"I was very proud of her," Oscar nominee Sidibe, 27, gushed to UsMagazine.com at the Interscope Geffen A&M Records Post-Dinner in Beverly Hills Sunday night.
"What advice would I be able to give her?" Sidibe said laughing. "She's my mama!"

Still, the actress -- who next stars in Showtime's The Big C opposite Laura Linney -- says her mom's recent fame hasn't gone to her head.
